We’re meeting a half hour earlier so that everyone has time to paint an item!  Naked Clay has a large variety of items to paint. The prices range from $8 - $40 per item and include everything from start to finish.  Wine and sodas will be provided.  Bring something to eat if you would like.

Directions to Naked Clay…

Take 285 East to Roswell Road.  Go north (outside perimeter) to Hammond Drive (BP station on left and Amoco on right) and turn left.  Turn right into the Kroger Shopping Center before you get to Sandy Springs Circle.  Naked Clay is between Kroger and the Post Office in the strip center. (Beware of the elderly women driving large Cadillacs…they’re VERY AGGRESSIVE drivers!!!)

April's Meeting:

Travel night at Mary Ettel’s was a lot of fun!  We got a lot of suggestions on places to go, things to do and things not to do when going particular places.  We also learned that most of  our members have travelled extensively. It was great to hear about everyone’s experiences!

Thank you Mary for cooking all of that wonderful food! You really did a wonderful job, and I think you secured  some advance orders for the  Alpha cookbook.

Officer’s Corner:

There are a few people who are leaving office or just changing office that deserve a BIG THANK YOU for serving us this past year…

Donna:  You’ve done an excellent job in handling the presidential duties. Thanks for always being open to new suggestions and ideas!
Erin:    We had a wonderful recruitment party and gained more than 10% in membership this past year…Thank you!
Emmalyn: For the past two years, you’ve done a great job in organizing our various service projects and always made them successful events.  Thank you for your time!
Laura: Thank you for being such a wonderful treasurer.  With graduate school, a small child and a wedding to plan, you’ve had a lot to keep you busy.  Thank you for making the time for Cobb County ZTA!

1999-2000 Officers…
We have a meeting on June 15th
at 6:30pm at the Windy Hill Fuddrucker’s (located at the corner of Windy Hill and Powers Ferry).  I’ll need every officer to come prepared with ideas and schedules.  Along with setting this year’s goals, we’ll need to make decisions about the recruitment party, programming calendar, service functions, fundraising functions, and alumnae-collegiate relation functions.   It’s important that all of us make it to this meeting. If for some reason you cannot make it, please let Kim Rice know (770-516-1639) ASAP so that we can reschedule.

July will be a BUSY month for some Cobb Zeta’s…

Lynette Pierce is having a baby & is due on July 1st.  Good luck and congratulations to Lynette and her husband. Lynette, we’re anxious to find out if it’s a boy or a girl.  Who knows... there may be a future Zeta on the way!

Wedding Bells will be ringing on July 24 for Laura Bugg! That’s a big part of the reason we haven’t seen her in a while! Congratulations to Laura and her husband-to-be.!

Thanks For Your Generosity!

Instead of working this year’s golf tournament, members at the March meeting voted to donate money for our fundraiser instead.  The majority of the money raised will go to our annual ZTA Foundation donation and any seed money we may need for the kick-off party.   Thank you to those at April’s meeting who gave so generously!  If you haven’t contributed yet and would like to do so, you can make your check payable to Cobb County ZTA* and mail it to Kim Rice, 225 Brolley Woods Drive, Woodstock, GA 30189, or bring it to May’s meeting.

*NOTE: After I had received checks at the last meeting, Marlene explained to me that for each of us to deduct the donation on our personal tax returns each check would need to be payable to ZTA Foundation.  Because this may be important to some of you, we have not cashed any of the checks collected at last month’s meeting and would be happy to swap checks at May’s meeting if that’s what you would like to do.  If you won’t be able to make it to May’s meeting and would like to replace a check, please mail it to Kim Rice at the address listed above by May 18th.  Thank you and sorry for any confusion!

Cobb Zeta Honored at Zeta Day!

There were 5 of us from Cobb County ZTA at the Tifton event last month! Mary Ettel, Erin French, Brenda Bradford, Marlene Conrad and Kim Rice represented our group. We were honored with a certificate for obtaining at least a 10% increase in membership during this year, and major donor status for giving more than $300 to the ZTA Foundation this past year.

The Tifton Area Alumnae put on a great Zeta Day, and they set a good example for us to follow…

It’s our turn next year to co-host (with Atlanta DeKalb) Zeta Day
in Atlanta next year!

We voted in Erin French as Zeta Day Chairman at April’s meeting, and she’s already working on securing a location.  Hopefully, we’ll be able to get Cobb Galleria Centre!  If you or anyone you know can get us a “deal” on a location, hotel rooms, printing, etc., please let Erin or Kim know.  We’ll be pulling together committees for the event next fall.
